West Linn History

2002

Ken Warner and West Linn are headed forward.  The skatepark has been approved to be built in Tanner Creek Park.  Here is the City's skatepark page:  http://www.ci.west-linn.or.us/Parks/htmls/SkatePark.htm  where you can find meeting minutes and the final design.

I tried to paste the final design on this page, but no go.

2001

At the present time we are looking at a skater designed facility. We are confident that a high quality skate park can be designed and constructed locally, without paying high exurbanite fees. There are so many parks and plans available, I don't think that we are inventing the wheel. As the process moves on we more than likely will be looking for professional skater/designer consultation for our design. This would allow us to find/catch any mistakes with flow and skateability that we may not have seen. At the present time the City has a minimum of $50K, of dedicated funds for the skate park and we already have the land.. We are projected to initially build about 10,000 square foot facility, with initial plans to cover, some of the park if not all of it. As far as Skateoregon it would be appropriate at this time to state that West Linn is in the design phase of the Skate park. We would anticipate construction to be in the spring of 2001. I currently don't know of any other parks in the making right now.

Sam,
Long time no hear. At this time we have a fully designed skate park ready to go to engineering. but it has been temporarily put on hold due to some neighbor resistance at the 11th hour to the park.

Could you help a little with your experience. The opposition has stated that not other skate parks are in residential areas. Can you send me a list of Oregon Skate parks that are in residential areas, or on very busy streets.
